GEROGE SHAPLAND - WOOD TURNER

George Shapland retired from the army in 2017 and took up wood turning full time after training under the Master Turner, Stuart Mortimer.  He turned professional in 2019 with the launch of his company Butterwood and was accepted onto the Register of Professional Turners in September that year. He specialises in segmented designs in both domestic and exotic hardwoods.

SIMON HOWDEN - ARTIST 

Simon's works cover most, it not all mediums, including Oils, Acrylics & Watercolours, all in a variety of styles from loose abstract to photo-realism, but always with a rich and vibrant colour pallet finished with sensitive mark making. Subjects range from local Landscapes influenced by his immediate surroundings to Wild Life both domestic & 'Exotic' - especially chickens! In addition Simon also creates limited edition Lino Prints.

Teresa is an artist who works in all mediums to produce colourful work. She exhibits across the South of England including London and Bath and takes part in Hampshire Open Studios. Her subject matter includes animal portraits, landscapes, floral work and abstracts and also hand pained lampshades.

NEIL BUCKLEY - ARTIST 

Orange Peel Art is a collection of acrylic paintings taken from landscapes in the Salisbury/Wiltshire area. Whilst most of the paintings show a traditional image of well-known historic sites, some of the paintings have been given their own spin, so there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Exchanging London for a studio in her beautiful hometown of Salisbury in order to start Mijoux Creations, Mia now produces gorgeous handmade silver and gemstone jewellery, inspired by nature, water and the beauty of geometry. Vicky uses free machine embroidery and hand stitching to produce framed pieces. Her subject matter can be a traditional landscape, birds or a stone wall, and is inspired by beauty in unusual places. Vicky also makes bespoke greetings cards.

I am a portrait sculptor working on a commission basis, creating, in clay, a likeness of a horse, dog, adult or child. To complement my commission work, I also produce a range of limited edition relief sculptures. My work is cast in bronze, bronze resin or elegant, white marble resin.

After working at the Royal College of Art for 15 years within the Ceramics and Glass Department I moved to Salisbury to set up Glass Art Services and Restoration business in 2015. I use the Verre Eglomise process, drawing through silver leaf, to create images of birds and wildlife.

Pretty fused glass plates and bowls, candle votives, jewellery and other gifts. Hand made by fusing layers of clear glass, glass chips, glass paints and coloured frits to create interest and texture.

PIP WHITE - NEEDLE FELTING 

Pip White was born and brought up in Salisbury. It has only been recently her discovery of needle felting has allowed her to explore her talent in a very unique way.  Her use of fibre forms and illusion of water colour or pastels and allows her to create landscapes and coastal scenes mainly from the south-west of England.

FRED FIEBER

FRED FIEBER - ARTIST 

Fred draws and paints on a variety of subjects in a range of mediums, landscapes, cityscapes and railways feature strongly. He works from his home studio in Salisbury. One of his biggest projects to date is the Milford Bridge Mural in Salisbury. Other projects include producing prints from charcoal drawings of the 90 or so pubs that have existed in Salisbury since the 1900s.

ANNE-MARIE MARSHALL FIEBER

Anne-Marie has drawn and modelled animals from an early age. Her travels around the world enabled her to study wild animals first hand, particularly in Africa. Her more recent work is based on the domestic and wild animals that inhabit the Forest around her studio. She shows her work in galleries all over England.

CHRIS LOCK - PHOTOGRAPHER

I have been photographing Wiltshire and Dorset for the last fifteen years and still find great inspiration in the changing moods and colours of the landscape through the seasons. My work has appeared in a number of books and magazines, and 2021 will mark the tenth edition of my Wylye Valley Calendar, which supports the Wiltshire based charity Hope and Homes for Children.

BOB NORMAN - POTTER

Bob started throwing pots at school, then took it up again after a 30-year gap.  Now retired and living in Salisbury, he makes useful items – mugs, jugs, bowls, dishes ….  He uses stoneware which is hard wearing and may be used in the oven, microwave and dishwasher.

I live in Redlynch in the beautiful New Forest National Park where most of my inspiration comes from. My watercolour paintings are available as originals, prints, 100% silk cushion covers, mugs, coasters and greeting cards. I also take commissions. FIONA CHARTER - CERAMICIST

Fiona is a ceramicist specialising in hand built plates, platters, and vases. She loves painting birds and animals using underglazes and slips and draws much inspiration from the Wiltshire countryside that surrounds her garden studio in Downton. Having had a long career teaching art in schools and colleges in and around Salisbury, Fiona is now able to devote her time to producing her own work, walking her dogs and gardening!

After leaving art college I decided to follow my other passion and worked in horse racing for several years, my work often reflects these two interests. I also enjoy painting the wildlife and countryside around where I live in Wiltshire, I use both watercolour and pastel. Most of my paintings are available as mounted prints and greeting cards, including a range of 'humorous' cards!

HARRIET BILTON - TEXTILES 

Harriet designs and makes a range of textile products from sustainable materials, such as bamboo. By making natural dyes and mordants from foraged items and kitchen waste she is able to keep to a muted colour palette. She also experiments with cyanotypes and printmaking techniques by transferring botanical imagery onto paper and fabric.

Will Richardson is an intuitive stone carver with no formal training in art or sculpture.  Much of his work is figurative, leaving unrevealed elements for the viewer to imagine.  He deliberately avoids any suggestion of literary or allegorical associations in his work as this imposes a viewpoint on the observer.

Rich mixes his photography of Salisbury and other places of inspiration (including Cornwall) with a new venture into paint and ink on wood. His photography is inspired by natural forms, whether it be the Cornish coastline or lichen on buildings like Salisbury Cathedral, exploring texture, shape and light. The paint and ink artworks show his artistic talent for capturing Salisbury, wildlife and popular culture in a unique way.

Dan’s paintings are built up layers of oil paint and mixed media focusing on the colours, textures and forms found in rugged landscapes. He mainly works from memories of specific places to give a more abstract feel. Dan completed an Art Foundation Diploma at Salisbury College and studied Fine Art at Plymouth University. His paintings are on permanent display at several independent businesses in Salisbury.

I am a local self taught artist, working in a range of different media - charcoals and scratchboard drawing wildlife.  I have a real passion for drawing in ballpoint pen. I am In the process of drawing the series ‘icons’ and recently completed this image of Salisbury Cathedral called ‘Hometown’ which took 90 hours! I will be displaying limited editions prints of my art, all numbered and signed.

Most of my New Forest studio pieces have been large, wheel-thrown, stoneware platters and bowls, both glazed and unglazed. I particularly like the unglazed pots as they exhibit the clay, its colours and differing textures which are otherwise hidden beneath the glaze.

Salisbury Group of Artists welcomes artists of all ages and abilities within the Salisbury area.
