I collect all sorts of bits and pieces that I usually - eventually - manage to use in my work. My horde ranges from feathers and photos of quirky birds, dried seed heads, old electronics, bits of material and buttons, to images of drain pipes, chimney pots, and sun on a church floor. I also like the texture of things like crisply folded paper and the way dupion silk drapes. And then I work from there.

WILL RICHARDSON - STONE CARVER

Will Richardson is an intuitive stone carver with no formal training in art or sculpture.  Much of his work is figurative, leaving unrevealed elements for the viewer to imagine.  He deliberately avoids any suggestion of literary or allegorical associations in his work as this imposes a viewpoint on the observer.

MOIRA ROSS - STONE CARVER

While I love textiles and paper, my favourite thing is stone carving and my favourite stone is Maltese Limestone. I carve it by hand, often with rasps rather than chisels, and sand it till it is smooth, 'soft' and shiny. So tactile!  Animals, seeds and fruit are some of my subjects, alongwith abstract pieces.

Since my chilhood, I have been very creative. I do not like waste… materials that can often appear to not be of any use any more, are my favourites to work with. My most favourite materials are wood with combination of metal and other natural media. I see opportunities to be creative and I love the challenge to design something new and different every time.

I am currently working a couple part time jobs in the hopes of one day being able to pursue my art as a career.
